This afternoon the US Coast Guard flew by the hospital, but I did not see them land. Just a few minutes later however, approximately 3:10 this afternoon the Aeromed chopper set down atop the new helipad on top of Spectrum Hospital in downtown Grand Rapids, MI.

The medical helicopter landing pad atop Spectrum Health in Downtown Grand Rapids, MI has not had a helicopter landing since a spectacular fiery crash that occurred on May 29,2008.

A medical helicopter crashed in downtown Grand Rapids MI today atop Butterworth Spectrum Hospital. It erupted into flames. Preliminary reports are that it was an Aeromed craft. Flames were clearly fueled and smoke billowed.

My wife decided to go view the casket of President Ford and told me it was a significant experience for her. I decided at 2:15 a.m. that I should not miss the experience, so I packed in the car and headed to downtown Grand Rapids.

Gerald Ford, adopted son, Grand Rapids native and UM Football star returned home today. After flying from Andrews Air Force Base near Washington DC, he was flown over the Big House (University of Michigan Stadium) and landed in Grand Rapids at Gerald R.

Five sets of two fighters flew directly over downtown Grand Rapids, Mi at 12:50 p.m. local time today after numerous fly-bys south of town earlier in the morning. As they reached Pearl Street, the street on which the Gerald R. Ford Museum is located they peeled up and out.

As former President Ford is leaving Washington, there have been numerous siting of military jets in the sky's south of Grand Rapids, Michigan. One theory is that they are practicing the approach for the fly-over expected to happen tomorrow afternoon as Gerald R. Ford is buried.
